Product Detail

At the House of Krug, every Krug Vintage celebrates the distinct character of a particular year. A Krug Vintage is a blend of the most expressive wines from a single year enhanced by a stay of over ten years in the cellars. Every Krug Vintage is different: it is the Music of the year, captured by Krug.

The 2006 Vintage from Krug is generous and full - a champagne in true Krug style, with an expressive nose and palate. A true show-stopper. Named ‘capricious indulgence’ by the maison, this prestige cuvée was born of an unpredictable year. The 2006 will go down in history as one of the maison’s greatest.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance: Brilliant, yellow gold.

Aroma: Initial notes of fresh, ripe apricots and white fruits give way to tangy star fruit and fresh citrus followed by mentholated, liquorice nuances with a touch of basil.

Taste: Powerful and round on the palate, with flavours of stewed, caramelised and dried fruit, followed by marzipan, barley, sugar, praline, honey and hazelnut. Hints of smokiness, thyme and rosemary follow before a lively, lingering finish with blood orange, sea salt and grapefruit zest flavours.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This is a vintage that pairs deliciously with grilled meats, shish kebab or Greek brochettes, and even shellfish with a bit of character, such as black crab. Its assertive nature makes it a match for spicy dishes as well as mouthwatering desserts such as rhubarb pie and bitter orange jam.
